Our Candidates for the General Election
Scott and Charlie will be campaigning for action to tackle the cost of living crisis, the NHS crisis and to protect our environment.
Cllr Scott Emery is a strong campaigner who has twice beaten Labour. He represents the Haringey Highgate Ward in the Hampstead & Highgate constituency, which is being fought on new boundaries. The Liberal Democrats are the main challengers to Labour in this constituency, with eight councillors, compared to three Conservatives.
Charlie Clinton, candidate for Holborn and St Pancras, is a former UCL graduate and has lived in London for 18 years. He said “People are fed up – and as the country struggles under our broken political system, I will take every opportunity to champion real change, calling for top-to-bottom reform of the country, from housing all the way to Parliament.”
The Liberal Democrats are on the up after beating the Conservatives at the May local elections and winning four stunning parliamentary by-election victories since the last General Election.
Responding to Rishi Sunak calling a General Election, the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate for Hampstead & Highgate, Scott Emery, said:
“For years our area has been taken for granted by an out-of-touch Conservative Government that has failed to get the basics right and lurched from crisis to crisis - now it’s time for a change.
“Local health services have been brought to their knees, people’s mortgages and rent have skyrocketed and water companies have been allowed to pump their filthy sewage into our rivers. All this by a Conservative government more interested in fighting between themselves than standing up for the country.
“Every vote for the Liberal Democrats is a vote for a fair deal. It’s a vote for a party that will stand up for our community and our health services.”
