Lib Dem Leader Sir Ed Davey Celebrates Flick Rea’s 50 Years of Public Service

The Camden Liberal Democrats were honoured to welcome party leader Sir Ed Davey to a special celebration marking former councillor Flick Rea’s remarkable 50 years of public service on 30 January. The event, held in the heart of West Hampstead at the Sherriff Centre, paid tribute to Flick’s dedication to her community and her enduring impact on local politics.
A longstanding champion for her constituents, Flick first joined the Liberal Party in 1975 and has been a powerful voice for residents ever since. Having served as councillor for Fortune Green from 1986 until 2021, Flick has played a pivotal role in shaping local policy, supporting community organisations, and defending public services, all while being a tireless advocate for the people of West Hampstead and Fortune Green over decades of activism.
Sir Ed Davey joined fellow Liberal Democrat councillors, party members, and supporters in celebrating Flick’s milestone, praising her as a "legend of local government" whose commitment to Camden has been unwavering. He highlighted the importance of dedicated local representatives like Flick in delivering real change for communities.
In response to the tributes, Flick says “I'd just to say thank you for 50 years of friendship and fun - not just from the family of Lib Dems but also to the wider community where I have made so many friends! Becoming a Councillor gave me one of the greatest opportunities of my life. It’s hard work sometimes but ultimately rewarding!”
The event was filled with shared memories and a sense of deep gratitude for Flick’s service to the party. Camden Lib Dems remain inspired by her dedication and will continue working to uphold the values she has championed for five decades.
