100 Avenue Road Update
Essential Living have decided not to take the project forward. A new developer, Regal, has taken it on and has some modifications they want to make to the scheme.
The changes include adding a second staircase, amending the number and type of residential housing proposed and alterations to the facade.
We opposed the original planning application, principally on the excessive size and the design of the development. We also opposed Essential Living’s failed attempt to modify the planning permission by reducing the number of affordable homes.
These new modifications from Regal do not address the fundamental problems with the scheme, so we remain in opposition to it and will continue to resist the plans on your behalf.
We have concerns that the proposed changes may exacerbate existing issues around vehicular access and servicing of the building if it is completed.
Two things to note:
- This consultation is not a planning consultation run by the council. At this stage no planning application has been submitted. It is Regal’s own consultation.
- The planning permission gained by Essential Living in 2015 is still valid. So if/when Regal do submit an application, it will only be to modify the existing scheme.
