The Liberal Democrats have begun to spell out their plans to ease the excessive enforcement of the current parking regime.

"Everyone wants to see fair parking controls," said Lib Dem Group Leader, Cllr Keith Moffitt, "But the enforcement is going just too far.

"Honest residents are being trapped, fined and taken through the courts as petty criminals."

The number of residents getting pointless parking tickets is reaching an all time high. The Lib Dems have pledged to bring in an approach that is more sensitive to residents.

The Lib Dem pledges include:

  • Stop unfair car clamping

  • Cut the price of visitor permits

  • Give wardens discretion over ticket issuing on the streets
