Policing for Highgate - Cllr Laura Willoughby, Lynne Featherstone MP and Ed Fordham, Hampstead and Highgate

Better Policing for Highgate needed - Cllr Laura Willoughby, Lynne Featherstone MP and Ed Fordham

Ed Fordham, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesman for Hampstead and Highgate, has added his voice to the calls to sort out the policing situation in Highgate village.

"Because Highgate village spans the boundaries of three boroughs - Camden, Haringey and Islington - local people are not getting the policing they deserve. Each part of Highgate when taken on it's own has low crime but as a whole there are real issues and a stronger police presence would be useful and would reassure traders and residents.

"I today met with Lynne Featherstone, MP for Hornsey and Wood Green, and also Cllr Laura Willoughby, Lib Dem spokesperson for Islington North, to discuss the issue. I am launching a crime survey in the village and asking for residents to give us feedback on local issues of concern.

"Lynne Featherstone MP has already raised this issue and met with the Metropolitan Police Authority and they have agreed to address it. What is needed is for the Police Commanders from the three Boroughs to work together - it doesn't seem to be too much to ask and would make a real difference."
